President-elect Donald Trump has announced that actors Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone, and Jon Voight will serve as “special ambassadors” to Hollywood. The announcement, made on Trump’s Truth Social platform, highlights their role in revitalising Hollywood’s domestic presence and reversing its recent decline.
“These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears,” Trump said. “It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!”
Stallone, 78, Gibson, 69, and Voight, 86, have been vocal supporters of Trump since his initial 2016 presidential campaign. Stallone recently introduced Trump at a Mar-a-Lago gala, calling him the “second George Washington.” Voight has praised Trump as the “greatest president” since Lincoln, while Gibson has publicly supported Trump and critiqued Vice President Kamala Harris.
The specific duties of a “special ambassador to Hollywood” remain unclear, though historically, ambassadors represent the president’s interests.
The Ambassadors
- Mel Gibson: A two-time Academy Award winner, Gibson has faced controversy for past remarks, particularly after his 2004 film The Passion of the Christ. Despite being blacklisted after a 2006 incident, Gibson has re-emerged in recent years and continues to advocate for faith-based filmmaking.
- Sylvester Stallone: Known for his iconic Rocky franchise, Stallone has expressed his Catholic faith, describing the Rocky character as divinely inspired.
- Jon Voight: Raised Catholic, Voight has spoken openly about his rediscovery of faith later in life, crediting it for his extended career.
Trump emphasised that their combined talent and influence would help bring Hollywood “BACK — BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!” The announcement underscores Trump’s broader vision of restoring the country’s cultural and economic dominance.
