With global upheaval, Middle Eastern conflicts, and shifting political landscapes, many are re-examining biblical prophecy. The discussion around the Third Temple in Jerusalem and the red heifer sacrifice has never been more relevant.
Mondo Gonzales, co-host of Prophecy Watchers and author of The Mystery of the Red Heifer, recently explained the significance of this ancient ritual in the prophetic timeline.
“We are living in unprecedented times… Every day we look at the news and wonder: Which chapter of Revelation are we in today?”
According to biblical prophecy, the Third Temple is a key element of the end times. However, for the temple to function, it must be ritually purified—a process requiring the ashes of a pure, unblemished red heifer.
Numbers 19 describes this requirement: a spotless, entirely red female cow with no blemishes. Even two non-red hairs would disqualify it. For centuries, no qualifying red heifer had been found, making the rebuilding of the temple seem distant. That changed in September 2022 when five red heifers were discovered and transported to Israel.
“To have five at once… really increases the probability of what we’re looking at in the near future.”
Beyond the red heifer, almost everything required for the Third Temple is already in place.
“People can visit templeinstitute.com… The vessels, the priests’ garments—100% complete. They even claim to have the Ark of the Covenant.”
The only missing element? Political will.
“The last step is the red heifer ceremony, which happens on the Mount of Olives—it doesn’t even take place on the Temple Mount.”
Rebuilding the temple remains politically sensitive. While religious groups push for it, much of Israel’s secular population opposes the idea.
“Most people in Israel don’t care about a temple. In fact, many secular groups are outright hostile to the idea.”
Regardless of individual beliefs, Jewish religious leaders are moving forward out of religious conviction. For Christians who study end-times prophecy, these events are significant. The Bible predicts a Third Temple, and preparations are underway.
Gonzales stresses that prophecy will unfold in God’s timing. While many believers are eager to see fulfilment, some question whether Christians should support the temple’s construction, given its role in the Antichrist’s deception before Christ’s return.
“Would you donate to building the Third Temple? There’s a theological tension here… Some say yes, believing they are helping fulfil prophecy, even knowing it will be part of the deception.”
Whatever one’s stance, the facts remain: The red heifers are in Israel, the temple implements are ready, and religious leaders are actively preparing.
The question isn’t if these events will happen—but when.
As prophecy unfolds before our eyes, one thing is certain: If we truly believe in God’s Word, we should be paying attention.
