Current events and their possible connection to the end times.
As global instability grows, many believers are questioning whether biblical prophecy is playing out in real time. LA Marzulli joined Mondo Gonzales of Prophecy Watchers to explore current events and their possible connection to the end times. Their discussion covered the conflict in Israel, the significance of the red heifer, and the anticipated rise of the Antichrist.
Hamas and the Red Heifer
A key topic was the red heifer, a crucial element in Jewish purification rites. Some have speculated that the red heifer ceremony may have influenced the Hamas attacks on Israel on 7 October 2023. However, Gonzales dismissed this claim outright.
“If you go back to [Hamas’] charter, they don’t need a reason to kill Jews,” he stated. He accused Hamas of using propaganda to manipulate global opinion, adding, “They create whole scenarios… dress people up in makeup, put a child there and record it like it’s a real event.”
The Third Temple and the Antichrist
The rebuilding of the Third Temple in Jerusalem remains a major focus of biblical prophecy. Scripture suggests the Antichrist will make a covenant with Israel, allowing its construction—an idea that seems politically impossible today. However, both Marzulli and Gonzales argue that global circumstances can shift rapidly.
“When people say, ‘There’s no way in a million years this could happen,’ I would argue that everything is changing right before our eyes,” Gonzales observed. He noted that Saudi Arabia has shown openness to a Jewish temple in Jerusalem, even expressing interest in taking over the Temple Mount’s management from Jordan.
Marzulli reinforced this by pointing to recent events in Syria. “A couple of months ago, no one saw that coming. Assad flees the country, the prisons are emptied… Everything changed in an instant. That’s how fast this could happen.”
The Millennial Kingdom: Literal or Symbolic?
Marzulli and Gonzales firmly reject the notion that the Millennial Kingdom is symbolic. “There are people out there who say we’re already living in the Millennial Kingdom,” Marzulli said, incredulously. “Two World Wars, Korea, Vietnam—if this is the Millennial Kingdom, I’ll shave my head and become a Buddhist.”
Gonzales approached the issue from a historical perspective, tracing the allegorical interpretation back to St Augustine in the 4th century.
“When Christianity became the dominant power of the Roman Empire, theologians started allegorising prophecy because it didn’t fit their worldview.” However, he pointed to Scripture’s clear statements that Christ will reign physically from Jerusalem for a thousand years. “Zechariah 14 is crystal clear—His feet will touch the Mount of Olives. That’s not allegory.”
The Mark of the Beast: A Genetic Transformation?
A particularly unsettling discussion revolved around the Mark of the Beast. While many see it as an economic system linked to buying and selling, Gonzales suggested it could involve a fundamental change in human DNA.
“In Revelation 14, God sends an angel to warn the world, ‘Do not take this mark!’” Gonzales emphasised. “Why? Because those who take it are irredeemable.”
He speculated that the mark might alter a person’s nature, potentially turning them into “modern-day Nephilim”—beings no longer fully human. “There’s something either spiritual or biological happening that prevents redemption.”
