Speaking at a Heritage Foundation event during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Carlson suggested that the increasingly violent and irrational political climate indicates forces at work beyond mere politics.
“The assassination attempt against President Trump reminded many that there is a spiritual battle underway,” Carlson said. “These are not just political divides; there are forces whose only goal is chaos, violence, and destruction.”
Carlson warned that these forces, which have historically driven revolutionary movements, are now targeting Christians, whom they view as their greatest threat. He argued that this animosity toward Christianity is central to the current turmoil in the country.
During his speech, Carlson also criticized the Republican Party’s leadership, claiming their primary focus is on perpetuating war. He asserted that Trump, the first president since Jimmy Carter not to initiate or escalate a military conflict, has been a barrier to their goals.
“Trump stood in their way, and that’s why they’ve tried so hard to subvert him,” Carlson said, adding that Trump’s survival and defiant response to the assassination attempt have secured his victory. “Not only did he survive, but he stood up and faced the crowd, declaring ‘Fight, fight, fight!’ That’s how you win.”
Carlson has been vocal about these sentiments in recent months, particularly since his departure from Fox News, urging audiences to recognize the spiritual dimension of the nation’s political struggles.
